The basic principles and practices of interactive computer graphics and multimedia systems are covered in this extensive course. The design and implementation of state-of-the-art conputer graphic rendering and visual multimedia systems are the main part of the lab projects. The sub-topics of the course deal with specific input/output hadware devices and their technology; software and hardware standards; programming methods for implementing 3-dimensional graphical applications and interactive multimedia applications; and a study and evaluation of the effectiveness of graphic/multimedia communications. A large component of the class is the building of a large scale application.

The appropriate knowledge of the elements of multimedia which includes audio, video, graphics, animation, interactivity, etc. will be studied with a resulting production lab homework of each element. The strategies, best practices, and techniques to develop a multimedia production will be focused in class. A study of what constitutes a distributed multimedia system, current and emerging technologies that support advanced multimedia systems, and how to design and implement a multimedia system will be alsobe included in the portions in Multimedia.

POLICIES
